Preliminary work is scheduled for Monday, which will close the shoulders on eastbound and westbound I-96, between Kent Lake Road and I-275/I-696/M-5, so crews can remove some trees and clear brush near the highway.

When completed, the Flex Route will allow for an additional lane of traffic during rush hours and when there are crashes blocking other lanes.

Details on the project, including videos on how to drive on a Flex Route, are available at DrivingOakland.com.
