DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Westland caregiver has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of an elderly man in Detroit.
Thirty-year-old Nassim Moustapha Messelmani is facing murder and weapon charges in connection with the Nov. 18 death of 72-year-old Edward McClendon.

Investigators alleged that Messelmani, who was the in-home caregiver, stabbed McClendon multiple times and then shot him, before fleeing the home in the 19710 block of Robson Street in Detroit.
Detroit Police arrived at the scene at approximately 11:30 a.m. following the reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers located the victim face down on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head and stab wounds to the stomach and chest.
Following the alleged shooting, police said Messelmani turned himself in later the same day.
No motive has been released.
On Tuesday the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office charged Messelmani with one count of first-degree murder which is any intentional murder that is willful and premeditated with malice aforethought.
Messelmani is also charged with one count of a felony weapon charge which is the illegal possession, transportation or distribution of firearms.
The preliminary examination is scheduled for Dec. 8 at the 36th District Court in Detroit.
