(WWJ) -- Are you having trouble finding any baby formula? Well, two Metro Detroit doulas are helping those struggling amidst this shortage.
WWJ Newsradio 950's health reporter Dr. Deanna Lites spoke with Heather Maine, a labor and postpartum doula, who is organizing a baby formula drive to "attempt to relieve some of the panic that comes with not being able to find formula."
Maine, with help from another local doula, is collecting and distributing formula in Oak Park and Novi with the help of Facebook.
The started collecting and distributing the formula on Friday and their services are already going to good use.
"I would say we had well over 20 donations, and we've had about 15 deliveries to different homes dropping off the formulas they [parents] need," said Maine.
If you have extra formula around the house or willing to pick some up when you're out shopping, you can get in touch with the doulas to donate. If you're someone who is in need, they can coordinate either a drop-off or pick-up for you.
"Babies need to be fed, and finding formula should be the last thing on a new parent’s mind," the doulas wrote on Facebook.
