(WWJ) The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is urging hunters not to miss out on what it calls "the hunt of a lifetime."

December is the last month to get your hands on Pure Michigan Hunt applications before next month's drawing.

Each $5 Pure Michigan Hunt application helps fund Michigan's wildlife habitat restoration and management, the DNR says, and offers a shot to win a unique multi-species hunting opportunity.

The winner, who will be chosen in January, 2023, will receive:

• A hunting equipment prize package worth thousands
• Licenses for elk, bear, antlerless deer, and spring and fall turkey
• First pick at a managed waterfowl area for a reserved hunt

Applications are on sale through Dec. 31, until 11:59 p.m.

Hunters can apply as many times as they like, or you can purchase the application as a gift for the Michigan hunter in your life.
