LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WWJ) -- Former State Rep. Jewell Jones has pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors and two felony charges resulting from a drunken driving incident in 2021.

Wednesday morning, 26-year-old Jones admitted to several counts, including resisting and obstructing police, having a firearm while intoxicated, reckless driving and attempted escape while awaiting trial for a misdemeanor.

In exchange for admittance, the Inkster representative will have the accusations of resisting arrest and DUI withdrawn.

The agreement also permits Jones to have his felony charges reduced to dismissals provided that he completes a youth sentencing program.

Jones turned down the plea bargain in December and the matter was scheduled to go to trial later this month. Sentencing is set for March 17.
