WOLVERINE LAKE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating a claim by some southeastern Michigan restaurant patrons that someone put marijuana in their food.
Wolverine Lake Police Chief John Ellsworth told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeill that about half-a-dozen people sitting at the same table at the restaurant, in Wolverine Lake, said they went for a meal... but ended up getting high.
The chief told McNeill that the allegations are "very specific," although he declined to release those specifics at this time.
He said they're testing the blood of the patrons for pot, and they expect to have the results next week.
While THC, the chemical responsible for most of pot's psychological effects, can stay in a person's system for a long time, Ellsworth said the complaining patrons claim that they don't use marijuana.
It's not yet clear if charges are expected in the case. Ellsworth said police still have some investigating to do to figure it all out.
He told McNeill that he knows ":something happened," but he's not exactly sure what. The name of the restaurant is being withheld at this time.
Wolverine Lake is a village in Oakland County's Commerce Township, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.
