While many of them struggle to register for coronavirus vaccines and balance in-person and remote classrooms, there's a bright spot for Michigan's teachers.

The government is sending them $500 each.

The Michigan Treasury posted on its website that it will distribute funding to eligible classroom teachers in an equal amount up to $500. Any K-12 classroom teacher employed by a public school district or nonprofit nonpublic school or assigned to regularly and continuously work under contract in a public school or in a nonprofit nonpublic school is eligible for the money.

The grant comes through Public Acts 257 and 166, which were signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in December. The goal of the money is "to recognize the additional time spent outside of normal working hours, hazardous conditions, and additional costs school support staff have incurred or experienced to provide services to students during the period of school closure in 2019-2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic," the Treasury Department says.

Teachers can fill out an application for the $500 HERE on the Treasury Department's website.

The money should arrive by Feb. 25.
