(WWJ) -- The 1.4 million Michiganders expected to be traveling for turkey dinners will be facing heavy traffic and paying the highest Thanksgiving week gas prices since 2012.
According to AAA, Drivers in the state will be looking at an average of $3.35 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is $1.35 more than Thanksgiving week in 2020.
Motorists are paying an average of $50 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $11 from when prices were their highest last January, said AAA.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), total domestic gasoline stocks decreased along with gasoline demand.

“The decrease in demand, alongside stocks, has helped to lower pump prices heading into the holiday week. However, gasoline prices will likely remain elevated as long as oil prices are near $80 per barrel,” added Woodland.
One of the highest average gas prices is found in Ann Arbor at $3.40, while the least expensive is found in Grand Rapids at $3.31, according to AAA data.
