(WWJ) – Twin brothers from Northern Michigan are among three suspects facing charges for a string of at least 30 home invasions and stealing more than 200 items.
Kyle and Kevin Bennett of Houghton Lake were extradited back to Michigan last week after they were arrested in Marion County, Florida on outstanding warrants for conducting criminal enterprises and conspiracy to conduct criminal enterprises.
Multiple police agencies began investigating the 36-year-old brothers, along with Michelina Gerard, 26, also from Houghton Lake, in 2022.
When investigators went to execute a search warrant at a home in Roscommon Township, they recovered more than 200 items of stolen property taken from homes in both Roscommon and Missaukee Counties.
Officials did not say what items had been stolen or how much the stolen property totaled.
But none of the suspects were at home at the time of the raid. Gerard later surrendered to investigators and she was charged with conducting criminal enterprises and conspiracy to conduct criminal enterprises. She was arrested this April.
The Bennett twins were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Florida and brought back to the Roscommon County Jail last Wednesday.
All three suspects have since been arraigned in the 82nd District by Judge Mary Beebe and are pending further court hearings.
Investigators are currently working on 30 separate incidents of home invasions in the two counties from last year, but authorities believe there were likely more incidents that were not reported to police.
Officials are asking anyone who has information about their additional possible crimes to call the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office at 989-275-5101.
