HOWELL (WWJ) -- It's Groundhog Day, but because of the Winter Storm Warning covering much of Southeastern Michigan, the state's official groundhog, Woody the Woodchuck, is taking a snow day and won't be looking for her shadow.
Woody the Woodchuck’s annual prediction has been delayed, the Howell Nature Center announced in an email on Monday, adding that the "difficult decision" was made under the guidance of Woody and its meteorology experts.
She will now make her prediction on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 a.m. to see if we will have an early Spring or six more weeks of winter. The event will also be streamed live on the nature center's Facebook page at 8:30 a.m.
In the meantime, Punxatawny Phil made his prediction on Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania Tuesday.
To no surprise to Michiganders, Phil predicted a "long, lustrous, six more weeks of winter."
