(WWJ) Michigan State Police say they found additional explosives in the home of a student who detonated a pipe bomb in a high school classroom.

The incident, characterized by police and administrators as accidental, happened at Newaygo High School in rural western Michigan Monday morning,

The 16-year-old boy told police that he didn't intend to blow up the improvised bomb that he brought to school.

He suffered what were described as "moderate to severe" injuries, according to police, and four students and a teacher also went to the hospital with minor injurie.

All Newaygo County Schools went into lockdown according to county emergency operations plan until information was obtained that there were no further threats to students, police said.

In an update Tuesday, State Police said investigators found more "explosive devices" at the teen's home Monday night and they were safely detonated by the MSP Bomb Squad.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were in the scene to assist with identifying the explosive materials involved, MSP said.

On Tuesday, the incident remained under investigation by the Newaygo Police Department and the Michigan State Police Hart Post, with the help of Newaygo Public School staff.

It's unclear at this time if the teen may face charges.

The Newaygo County Schools superintendent has said the student did not intend to hurt anyone.
