DETROIT (WWJ) -- A motorcyclist's attempt to flee police in Detroit was halted by a flat tire.

At approximately 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, a group of motorcycles passed a Michigan State Police car at a high rate of speed on westbound I-96, near the Southfield Freeway.

The trooper attempted to pull over one of the motorcycles, but the driver disregarded the emergency lights and siren, fleeing at an even higher rate of speed.

MSP said the trooper did not pursue the motorcyclist until they saw them again just a few miles away.

The trooper turned on their emergency lights and the rider exited the freeway at Telegraph Road, coming to stop -- the motorcycle had a flat tire.

Officials said they were able to arrest the 32-year-old driver for fleeing and eluding.

Charges are pending.
