DETROIT (WWJ) -- Drunk driving is suspected in a two-car crash along I-75 in Detroit that sent one driver to the hospital and landed the other in police custody early Sunday morning.
Michigan State Police say the driver of a Chevy Trailblazer was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-75 near Clark Avenue in Southwest Detroit around 12:50 a.m. Sunday when they lost control of the vehicle, struck the median wall and rolled over, blocking a portion of the freeway.
In the moments after the crash, MSP says, the driver of a Ford Fusion struck the rolled-over Trailblazer, critically injuring the driver of the SUV.
First responders took the driver of the Trailblazer to the hospital, where they were said to be in critical condition. The driver of the Fusion had no reported injuries.
MSP suspects both drivers were intoxicated at the time of the incident. The driver of the Ford consented to a blood draw, and results are still pending, as of Sunday morning. The case is under prosecutor review.
Authorities are still investigating what led to the crash.
