DETROIT (WWJ) – Several people have been arrested, thanks to the help of a Michigan State Police helicopter.

MSP officials sent out a “Hint of the Week” Sunday morning on Twitter, saying “if your ‘friend’ is a criminal and asks you to pick them up because the police are after them, don’t. Unless you want to go to jail too!”

The snarky tweet was accompanied by a video from MSP’s Trooper 2, showing the helicopter tracking the suspects in a backyard on Lakewood – near Chandler Park Drive and Chalmers Street – on Saturday.

The video shows three suspects hiding in the yard before running out to Lakewood and jumping in a car. Just after the car begins driving towards Chandler Park, it’s met by a Detroit police car.

All four people were arrested, according to MSP.

Authorities were searching for the suspects, who had fled on foot after a traffic stop Saturday. It was not immediately clear what prompted the initial traffic stop or why they fled.

Police did not release any information about the people who were arrested.
