ROSEVILLE (WWJ) – A Macomb Township resident is awaiting charges after Michigan State Police made a big drug bust to start the new year.

The MSP County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) began investigating between the holidays after learning the suspect was selling fentanyl pills pressed to look like oxycodone pills.

On Tuesday detectives from the Lapeer Post conducted an operation that led to a traffic stop in St. Clair County, according to MSP officials.

Based on information from the traffic stop and previous knowledge in the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence.

During the search, investigators recovered 1,964 suspected fentanyl pills and 30 grams of cocaine. Officials said investigators also seized two vehicles with $6,000 with intent to forfeit.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s name, but said charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

COMET was assisted by troopers from the Lapeer Post, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, and Roseville Police Department.
