(WWJ) A woman is hospitalized following a freeway shooting in Detroit, she told police.

Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched to northbound I-75 at Mack around 10:50 p.m. on Friday.

Witnesses reported the occupants of two vehicles were shooting each other; however, troopers did not see anything.

At approximately 2 a.m., MSP 911 was notified by Detroit Receiving Hospital that a woman had come in with a gunshot wound. The woman told police she was driving northbound on I-75 at Mack when a car pulled up next to her and started shooting.

She was able to exit the freeway and drove herself to the hospital afterward. She is listed in stable condition.

I-75 was closed for about an hour to look for evidence. The investigation remains underway.

There have been dozens of freeway shootings in metro Detroit since summer of 2020.
