TAYLOR (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police is now investigating a felonious assault following an early morning Downriver shooting on I-94 that they say was targeted -- and not a random incident.
At about 2 a.m., authorities said a person called 911 saying they were shot at and hit on westbound I-94, near Telegraph Road, in Taylor.
Officials said the passenger was shot at several times by someone inside of a pickup truck full of people.
The passenger is currently undergoing surgery in critical condition. The driver was not hurt.
Police were told by a witness that the suspected shooter continued to head west on I-94 after the shooting.
If the suspect is found and convicted, they could face up to four years in prison and have to pay up to a $2,000 fine.
