
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police troopers are searching for a driver who crashed into two cars during a chase in a BMW over the weekend.
At around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police said the driver was allegedly speeding in a BMW when he entered I-94 from the Lodge Freeway, right in front of a patrol car.
When the trooper tried to make a traffic stop, police said the driver refused to pull over, exiting I-94 at Linwood where he crashed into two cars stopped at a red light on the service drive.
The driver then took off running, leaving the smashed BMW behind.
Police said they used a tracking dog, but were unable to find the suspect.
An investigation at the scene found that BMW had a license stolen plate, police said. In the car, troopers found a cell phone along with Glock 40 caliber pistol with an extended magazine.
MSP said the weapon had been modified with a fully automatic switch.
One of the two drivers whose vehicles were hit suffered minor shoulder pain and was checked out by EMS. but there were no serious injuries reported.
There is no description the suspect at this time. Police said he was wearing a ski mask.
The investigation is continuing.
