MONROE (WWJ) – Michigan State Police have released photos of a suspect in a gas station robbery last Sunday.

MSP officials had previously said they were searching for a man who walked into the Circle K on North Monroe Street around 2:40 a.m. on June 5 and tried to rob the cash register.

When he demanded money from the register and the clerk refused, the suspect instead jumped over the counter and stole numerous packs of Newport cigarettes.

Authorities say he then ran out the front door. Surveillance images released over the weekend show the suspect with an armful of cigarettes as he moves towards the door.

He is described as approximately 5-foot-5 with a medium build and is likely in his early 20s. He was last seen wearing a black and gray printed Nike hoodie, dark pants, a black Los Angeles Kings hat with a white or gray bill, a gray face mask and red shoes.

Police also shared photos of a white Ford Explorer they believe he was driving. One wheel appears to have a black rim on the left rear tire.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the vehicle, or otherwise knows something about the robbery is asked to call the MSP Monroe Post at 734-242-3500.
