Who would abandoned a bullet-riddled vehicle on one of the busiest thoroughfares in Oakland County?
It's a mystery that Michigan State Police are trying to solve.
A trooper discovered a white BMW riddled with bullet holes on the shoulder of I-696 near Southfield Road at about 4 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
There was a clue: A trial of antifreeze at the scene led police to believe the shooting did not happen at the spot where the car was abandoned.
A check of local hospitals also revealed no shooting victims, and local police reported no calls about a shooting.
Detectives are awaiting a search warrant to check the vehicle and process the clues they may find inside as to who owns it and what may have happened to them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Michigan State Police at 248-584-5740.
