BENZIE COUNTY, Mich. (WWJ) - A pair of siblings in Northern Michigan were taken into police custody after a search warrant for stolen property led to the discovery of guns and drugs at their home.
Michigan State Police said Pieter Roeters, 41, and his sister Meaghan Roeters, 44, were arrested after police found morphine, methamphetamine, multiple firearms, illegal knives and more during an Aug. 31 search of their residence on Ballard Rd.
The pair now face multiple charges in what police said was initially an investigation into stolen property earlier last month.
On Aug. 15, troopers from the Cadillac Post began looking into the case of a vehicle that was stolen from an apartment complex in Frankfort. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle in a wooded area the next day, but police said several valuable items were missing.
Upon investigation, trooper were able to identify a suspect in the case and a search warrant was secured for a residence owned by Pieter on Ballard Rd. in Benzie County, MSP said.
Troopers learned through their investigation that the missing valuables were taken from the car at the home and more than likely were still there.

While police found several of the missing valuables related to the case, they also discovered a large cache of drugs, guns, and knives.
MPS said methamphetamine, morphine, multiple firearms (including one stolen handgun), ammunition and illegal knives were seized from the home.
Pieter was taken into police custody on an active warrant for his arrest. According to police, the 41-year-old was already under investigation for fraudulent use of a public utility over $500 and illegal transfer of utility services.
He was lodged as the Benzie County Jail on the following charges:

-Felon in Possession of Firearms (5 counts)
- Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property ($1,000 - $20,000)
- Possession of Methamphetamine

Pieter's sister, Meaghan, was also arrested and faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Tampering with Evidence.
She was arraigned on Sept. 2 and given a bond of $5,000 with 10% cash or surety.
Pieter had his arraignment on Friday, Sept. 9 and issued a bond of $500,000 at 10% cash or surety.
