
MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - One man is being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest after a late night shooting spoiled the grand opening of a new hookah lounge in Warren, the Macomb Daily reported.
Warren police said the gunshot victim was sitting in his car parked out front of the Phoenix Hookah Lounge at Eight Mile Road and Dequindre Road at 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Two suspects wearing ski masks came up to the victim's vehicle and opened fired, shooting several rounds through the car window.
The victim was struck by a bullet in the chest and was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital; authorities said the man is in stable condition.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said the shooting was not random and the victim appeared to be targeted.
The hookah lounge had just celebrated its first day in business after opening at the strip mall on March 17.
The investigation remains ongoing; no other information was made available.
