CANTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Classes for staff and students at a Wayne County high school are scheduled to begin as normal Tuesday morning less than a day after a bomb threat was determined to be 'not credible' by authorities.

District officials said the threat, made at the end of the school day on Monday, launched a building-wide evacuation and an extensive search by police at facility located at 8400 N Beck Rd in Canton Township.

"With activities and athletics underway in the building, we made the decision to evacuate the school to ensure the safety of our students and staff, and to allow Canton Township Police to investigate the situation," said Nick Brandon, the executive director of communications.

District Superintendent Dr. Monica L. Merritt stated that authorities gave the all-clear early Monday evening and that classes will resume as usual on Tuesday morning.

Merritt said multiple agencies, including K( teams, were on-site to conduct a thorough investigation.

"A comprehensive search of the building was conducted by officers and K-9 teams from Canton Township, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, Wayne County Airport Authority, Farmington Hills, Oakland County, ATF, Ann Arbor, Great Lakes Water Authority and Trinity Health," she said in a statement.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
