PLYMOUTH TWP. (WWJ) -- A Metro Detroit family is still searching answers, now nearly a year since their loved one was killed in a hit-and-run in Plymouth Township.
Renewing its call for tips in the case, Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to arrest in connection with the death of 78-year-old father and grandfather Warren Flagg.
According to investigators, Flagg was raking leaves outside his home at around 7 p.m. on Oct. 30, 2022, when he was hit and fatally injured by a driver who just drove away.
Following the incident, on Beck Rd. between Powell North Territorial Rd., police begin their search for the suspect vehicle, described as a gray 2007-2010 Pontiac Solstice, with front passenger side damage.
According to a report by Hometown Life, a passing motorist saw Flagg lying near the road and pulled over to help, applying a tourniquet to Flagg’s badly injured leg. The Good Samaritan then drove Flagg's wife to the hospital as her husband was carried away in an ambulance.
Flagg later died in the hospital.
According to the Hometown Life article: "In addition to being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Flagg's family said he had more friends than he could count, and knew everyone at local stores, gas stations and restaurants. He was also guardian and primary caregiver to a disabled adult son."
His family is was devastated by the loss.
"My 'bumpa' was one of the best men in my life," Flagg's granddaughter — one of ten grandchildren — told Fox 2 News. "You could be sitting next to him in a bar and he would be your new best friend. He was a people person. He loved everybody. He told me every day how proud he was of me."
With no arrests in the case and no suspects named to date, Crime Stoppers put out a fresh call for tips on Friday.
