ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – An Ann Arbor man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly throwing a rock at another man’s head during a fight in a parking lot last weekend.

Ryan Osborn, 37, was arraigned Sunday, two days after the alleged attack that happened around 11 p.m. Friday in a parking lot near Maple Road and Stadium Boulevard.

Officers were called to the area to conduct a welfare check and found a 38-year-old Ann Arbor man alone in a parking lot with significant injuries to his head. He suffered a fractured skull and remains in critical condition, as of Tuesday afternoon.

After he was taken to a hospital at the University of Michigan, investigators learned he had been in a fight with another man in the parking lot.

Surveillance video in the area captured the altercation, showing the suspect intentionally throwing a large rock at the victim’s head while he laid on the ground, according to Ann Arbor police.

While authorities say Osborn was located and arrested at the same hospital where the victim was taken, it was not clear how he was injured or what led to the fight between the men. Officials said the fight is not believed to be random.

Osborn was arraigned virtually from a hospital bed and bond was set at $500,000.
