CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- A man wanted for allegedly murdering a woman in North Dakota earlier this year has been taken into custody after a police chase in Macomb County Monday afternoon.
Authorities say the chase started in Clinton Township near 15 Mile and Garfield Roads when police tried to initiate a traffic stop of the suspect, who began to flee.
Dozens of officers from multiple agencies were involved in the chase, which ultimately ended with officers employing a pit maneuver at Groesbeck and Stephens in Warren, where Kamauri Kennedy was taken into custody.

At the time of the chase, WWJ tipsters had reported seeing at least 17 police cars at the scene.
Kennedy is accused of killing a 33-year-old woman who was reportedly his girlfriend back in early June in Minot, North Dakota. The body of Dominique Kelly was found in a burning car and authorities suspect Kennedy also set fire to the home where they lived.
Aaron Garcia, with the U.S. Marshals Office, tells WWJ they had been keeping an eye on Kennedy after recently receiving a tip that he was living on Detroit’s east side.
He says U.S. Marshals contacted the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton Township Police Department and told them to initiate the traffic stop prior to the chase.
Garcia says authorities are still investigating and have not determined whether anyone will be facing charges for harboring a fugitive.
A report from the Minot Daily News says Kennedy had also been on federal probation for charges related to a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Atlanta, Ga., in 2013. He had been allowed to return to Michigan after a prison sentence, but Garcia says he absconded parole in the Detroit area last year.
