SAULT STE. MARIE (WWJ) – Police in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have identified a woman and her three children who were killed in a March fire, which has been determined to be a murder-suicide.
Alicia Adzima, 31, and her three children, 4-year-old twins Ella and Eva and 1-year-old Emery, were killed in a fire at their home on March 14, according to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.
Investigators determined it was a murder-suicide, as the mother “intentionally caused the fire with the intent to cause the deaths of her and her children.”
Officials said aside from the murder-suicide determination, the investigation is still ongoing and authorities are not releasing any other details at this time.
When firefighters showed up to the blaze the morning of March 14, the home was fully involved. While crews quickly controlled the fire, a search of the home confirmed reports that people were inside, as they found Adzina and her children.
Authorities are asking anyone who has any information or tips about the fire to contact Detective/Sergeant Darrell Harp at 906-632-5752 or dharp@saultcity.com.
