DETROIT (WWJ) – About $170,000 worth of fentanyl is off the streets after the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) made a big bust in Detroit on Wednesday.

Michigan State Police say COMET’s Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted an interception operation and stopped large amounts of drugs coming into Metro Detroit for drug trafficking.

Detectives seized two kilos of fentanyl from one suspect and a half a kilo from another suspect. That amounts to about 5.5 lbs. of drugs.

Officials say both cases are still under investigation and have not released any details about either suspect.

It was not immediately clear where the drug bust happened in Detroit.

Officials say the approximate street value of the fentanyl that was seized Wednesday totals about $170,000.
