CANTON TWP. (WWJ) -- Two separate deadly crashes are under investigation in Canton.

According to the Canton Police Department, the first crash happened Thursday, at around 5 p.m., in the area of on Haggerty Rd. and Van Born Rd.

Investigators say a 77-year-old Canton woman was driving southbound on Haggerty when her SUV was hit by car, also headed southbound, driven by a 34-year-old woman from Detroit.

The Canton woman's SUV was then hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a 72-year-old woman from Lincoln Park.

The Canton woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said.

All other occupants of vehicles involved were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in these crashes, although the investigation was still on going on Friday.

A few hours later, at around 9 p.m., Canton Police said motorcycle driver traveling on Beck Road, near Cherry Hill, lost control of his bike and went off the roadway.

The 53-year-old Westland man, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the motorcycle crash, and police continue to investigate.

The names of the two people killed in these crashes were not immediately released.
