DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for an 11-year-old Detroit girl who hasn’t been seen since the 4th of July.

Detroit police say Mei’ya Casey left her home on Margareta – near 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway – without permission around midnight on July 4.

She never returned home and her family is worried.

Police officials say Mei’ya was last seen carrying a red book bag and wearing a multi-colored scarf, a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and Nike Air Force 1 shoes.

She’s approximately 5-foot-3, 140 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair worn in a bun.

Detroit police are asking for help from the public in bringing her home. Anyone who has seen Mei’ya Casey or knows of her whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 6th Precinct at 313-596-5601.
