DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking for help from the public to identify a suspect who shot and killed a man in Midtown last weekend.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police were still searching for the gunman who fled after the shooting at around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, in the 3900 block of Woodward Ave., in the area of Mack Ave.
According to DPD investigators, the victim was outside "a local hall" when the suspect approached and fired shots, striking the victim.
The victim, identified as a 32-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There is no description of the suspect at this time.
Police did release a short clip from surveillance footage showing a man, wearing all black, running away. The video is blurry, however, and it's impossible to make out the suspect's face.
As the investigation continues, anyone who can ID the suspect, or who has any information about this this crime, is asked to call the DPD's Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260, or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-Speak Up (800-773-2587). Submit a tip online HERE.
