TROY (WWJ) – A 27-year-old Pontiac man is awaiting charges for being “super drunk” while driving in Troy on Memorial Day weekend.
Troy police officers were called to northbound I-75 near Adams Road around 2:30 a.m. on May 29 after receiving reports of a possible drunk driver.
When officers got to the area they saw him “weaving back and forth across the lane markers” in a 2011 Ford Escape.
Once officers pulled him over and began speaking with him, they noticed he was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes. Officers also smelled alcohol coming from the SUV and saw an open beer can in the center cup holder.
The driver failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .344% BAC on a breathalyzer. He was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-up Facility, After refusing another breath test, medical personnel drew the man’s blood.
The case has been turned over to the Troy Police Department’s Detective Bureau for appropriate warrants once the blood results are returned. The suspect’s name has not been released.
