Another Michigan business has temporarily lost its liquor license and other permits over emergency order violations.
The Michigan Liquor Control Commission said Tuesday that it issued the suspension to The Office Bar in Port Huron for several violations, including: allowing in-person gatherings; providing in-person dining; failure to require face coverings for staff and patrons; and failure to prohibit patrons from congregating.
The business owner is expected to go before a judge next week for a virtual hearing. That hearing will determine whether the suspension continues, or if there should be other fines or penalties.
The Office Bar is the latest on a list of more than half-a-dozen Michigan businesses who had their licenses suspended for failure to comply with health department orders in recent weeks.
This comes a day after state officials extended Michigan's partial shutdown, which had been set to expire Tuesday night, an additional 12 days. Through Dec. 20, all bars and restaurants are prohibited from offering indoor service, high school and colleges are restricted to virtual learning, and some other "high-risk" businesses are closed.
