(WWJ) Another round of wet and wintry weather is on the way to Southeast Michigan, in the form of a slushy mix that could leave roads and freeways slick.

WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson said, after thickening clouds brought a snow shower and some rain in spots late Thursday night, "more numerous" rain and wet snow showers are expected throughout the metro Detroit area on Friday.

Rain will mix with snow earlier in the day, most likely going over into all snow showers into the late afternoon and evening.

While the precipitation may be persistent, there is expected to be only a small amount of snow accumulation in most of the metro Detroit area, as temperatures remain steady in the mid-to upper 30s throughout the day.

AccuWeather is calling for a coating to an inch near Detroit, and maybe a couple of inches to the north and west of the city,

The biggest concern is that travel could get dicey as roads get icy in the evening.

Michigan State Police noted that there was some "weird" weather on the way, urging drivers, as always, to take proper precautions.

"Like we would expect anything less these last couple of months. Keep it slow," MSP Metro Detroit said, in a tweet.

"Are you ready? Top of the windshield fluid and throw the snow brush and scraper in the car. Check that emergency kit while you are at it!"
