(WWJ) A Michigan rapper who calls himself the “King of Flint” has been charged for a failed murder-to-hire plot, after allegedly ordering a hit on a woman in Macomb County.

Clifton E. Terry III, whose rap name is Cliff Mac, hired 25-year-old Andre Sims of Grand Rapids back in November of 2020, according to U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison, offering him $10,000 to kill a woman.

Sims sat in a parked vehicle outside the woman's Sterling Heights apartment for hours waiting for her to come outside, investigators said. When she did he fired at least seven shots, according to the indictment, hitting the woman multiple times.

Thankfully, the victim did survive the shooting.

Terry, 31, picked Sims up from the apartment complex shortly after the shooting, offering him $2,500 for the failed hit, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Terry faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted in this case. In a separate case in Genesee County, he is charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the slaying of a man at a Flint apartment complex just over a year ago.

Sims was recently sentenced to life in prison, after also being convicted on murder charges connected to another shooting that killed a 65-year-old grandmother in Kent County.

This case was investigated by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosive, with assistance from the Sterling Heights Police Department, the Flint Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Michigan State Police, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office.
