During a routine patrol of southbound M-39 around 2:16 a.m., troopers saw a red Dodge Challenger pass them while traveling at a very high rate of speed. The officers tried to catch up with the vehicle, but were not able to pull it over due to the extreme speed of the suspect.

According to the tweet, another officer in the area was able to find the vehicle and followed it to a house on the 25000 block of Westfield in Redford Township.

When the troopers arrived on scene, the male driver was instantly defensive and refused to follow the officer's orders. The suspect taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs.

The suspect is being held at the Detroit Detention Center on for reckless driving, and resist and obstruction charges.

MSP confirmed the suspect's Dodge Challenger was impounded and the suspect now waits for the prosecutor's review.
