LIVONIA (WWJ) -- An arrest had been made in a shooting at a Livonia Taco Bell that police say involved a dispute between a customer and a restaurant employee.
Livonia Police on Friday announced that 44-year-old Keon Jackson of Redford Township was taken into custody on a felony warrant for Discharge of a Firearm into a Building and Felony Firearm, in connection with the incident one week ago.
At around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, police said Jackson was a customer at the Taco Bell on Middlebelt Rd., just south of Five Mile Rd.
According to investigators, a Taco Bell employee had just gotten off work, and was waiting for a ride, when Jackson overheard him talking on the phone.
Police said Jackson become upset over something the off-duty employee said on phone, and the two — who did not know one another — got into a heated argument.
Police did not say superficially what was said on the phone; only that the argument erupted over "language" that Jackson had overheard.
Jackson was given his food order and asked by a store manager to leave, police said, which he did.
However, police said an investigation revealed that Jackson came back around 30 minutes later and fired several rounds at the Taco Bell from across the street, striking the building as well as some vehicles driving by on Middlebelt.
Thankfully, police said, no one in the restaurant or the cars was injured.
Investigators interviewed numerous witnesses, canvassed the area and reviewed several security videos; which led to Jackson's arrest on Tuesday, police said.
He was arraigned in 16th District Court on Thursday and ordered held on a $50,000, 10% bond.
Jackson will be back in court for a probable cause conference set for Dec. 15.
