MELVINDALE (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police say speed and alcohol appear to factors in a crash that shut down a portion of I-75 last night.

It happened Sunday evening around 7:20 p.m. on northbound I-75 near Outer Drive.

An investigation shows a female driver was speeding along I-75 when she lost control, hit the median wall, and rolled over.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle on it’s roof with several people trapped inside.

Fire crews from Detroit and Southgate had to cut the people from the car.

All six occupants, including a child, were taken to local hospitals, where they're said to be in serious and critical conditions.

“This was another preventable crash in the district,” MSP said in a statement on Twitter. “There are a lot of drivers are driving too fast and driving impaired. As a driver we are all responsible for our own safety and the safety of other drivers and passengers. Again, totally preventable.”
