(WWJ) Several, large pieces of the Mackinac Bridge are now up for auction, the Mackinac Bridge Authority has announced.
Vintage sections of the famous bridge include five steel deck grates, measuring 5 feet by 40 feet.

In the past, segments this big have sold anywhere between $3,000 to $5,000.
So what exactly does someone do with these giant slabs?
“We have seen people make things out of them,” Mackinac Bridge Authority Executive Director Kim Nowack told WWJ’s Beth Fisher.
“They make replicas of the Mackinac Bridge on their property, or they make very big tables out of them, or cut them down and make coffee tables," she said. “They do all kinds of things with these bridge sections.”
Available pieces of the bridge will be open for bidding until Jan. 19.
People interested in small pieces will have their chance, too. The Mackinaw Bridge Authority plans to place scaled-down sections up for auction later this year.
