SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) – The Shelby Township Police Department is mourning after a police officer died suddenly while on duty Saturday.
Officials have not released many details about the death of 51-year-old Sgt. Daniel Kammerzell, a 17-year veteran of the department, other than he died suddenly while on the job.
No cause of death has been given.
A statement from the police department released Sunday morning says no suspicious or criminal activity was involved in his death.
“His families, both blood and blue, request privacy and time to mourn this difficult circumstance," Shelby Township Police said in a news release.
