FRENCHTOWN, TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- The search is on for a pair of masked men who forced hotel employees and guests to the ground during a robbery at a Days Inn & Suites in Frenchtown Township Tuesday afternoon.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the hotel in Frenchtown Township -- just north of Monroe -- shortly after 4 p.m. on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Authorities say the desk clerk, staff members and several guests in the lobby of the hotel were approached by two suspects who entered the building and immediately announced a robbery. One of the suspects pulled out a dark colored pistol and held the victims at gunpoint throughout the duration of the robbery, according to the sheriff’s office.

While all of the victims were ordered to the floor, the suspects stole cash from the safe and register before ultimately fleeing in an unknown direction.

Police say no one was injured during the robbery.

Police say one suspect is described as a male subject wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a face covering. The other male suspect was wearing a white hooded jacket, black pants and a face covering.

Detectives with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are actively following up on leads and will provide more information about the investigation when it becomes available. Michigan State Police troopers also assisted in the investigation at the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone who has any information about the robbery to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
