DETROIT (WWJ) – Food safety is important; there’s no disputing it. Nobody wants to go to a restaurant and end up getting sick because of bad food or poor preparation.

That’s part of the reason Detroit City Councilman Scott Benson has proposed an ordinance that would require businesses to post color-coded grades from their most recent health department inspections to let customers know what type of place they’re walking into. But many restaurant groups are pushing back on that idea.

In a new Daily J, WWJ’s Zach Clark looks for a solution to this Detroit issue by hearing from some of those who are pushing back – a restaurant owner, a Black business leader and a local reporter.
