ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - An armed and dangerous suspect believed to be involved in two stabbings in Macomb County that killed one person Wednesday morning has been arrested in Warren, police confirmed.
Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said the man police believe is connected to the two stabbing incidents in Roseville and St. Clair Shores was apprehended around 12 p.m. near Cadillac and Van Dyke.
Warren officers are working closely with the Roseville police in the case.
According to the Roseville Police Department, they were searching for a male suspect accused of fatally attacking a woman just after 6 a.m. in the parking lot of a popular Belle Tire located at 32700 Gratiot, just south of 14 Mile.
The suspect then fled from the area, police added, and moments later stabbed a second victim at a bus stop near 12 Mile Road and Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores.
Authorities from Roseville and St. Clair Shores were investigating both crime scenes as the sun rose on Wednesday morning. WWJ's Mike Campbell and Charlie Langton reported live from both locations earlier in the day as rumors swirled that the two cases were connected.
Authorities combed through both scenes for most of the morning and collected video footage.
Police revealed around 11 a.m. that detectives from the two departments were working together in the hunt for the same person allegedly involved in both incidents.
"Our department is requesting the assistance of the public in helping to identify this individual and vehicle relating to an ongoing homicide investigation," Roseville police said in an update to social media.
A BOL (be on the lookout bulletin) was issued the Roseville PD about the "armed and dangerous" suspect described 6-foot- tall white male, weighing around 160 to 180 pounds with short blonde hair, driving a dark-colored Chevy HHR.
Police said he was wearing what appeared to be a red sweater with brown pants and maybe armed with a 4-inch fixed blade style hunting knife with a black handle and black blade.
This information was broadcast to other area departments, which Commissioner Dwyer said led to the suspect's capture after a traffic stop in Warren, without further injury or incident.
"This arrest shows the outstanding awareness of members of the Warren Police Department," said Dwyer, in a statement. "Thanks to the quick actions of our officers, this suspect was located and taken into custody safely without incident. Our officers are always on the lookout for suspects wanted in connection to crimes in Warren and surrounding jurisdictions,
particularly those involving violent crimes."
The suspect's name has not been released, with expected charges pending.
