State Police bust speeding felon with loaded gun on I-94 in Macomb County

(WWJ) A young man is behind bars in Macomb County after he was caught with a gun he wasn't supposed to have.

Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, Michigan State Police troopers pulled over a car on I-94 that was speeding at 86 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Police quickly discovered that the driver, a 22-year-old convicted felon, had a felony warrant for fraud, and he was arrested.

Troopers then searched the vehicle and found located a loaded Springfield .40 caliber pistol. The driver did not have a CPL and can't legally posses firearms due to his felony conviction, police said, He's now facing a charge of carrying a concealed weapon (CCW).

The man was lodged at the Macomb County Jail pending prosecutor review and an arraignment. His name was not immediately released.
