Strong storms with damaging winds possible next few days in metro Detroit

There are thunderstorms in the forecast for Wednesday in metro Detroit, with more strong to severe weather possible over the next few days.

AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said the first round is expected to strike the WWJ Newsradio 950 listening area on Wednesday.

"I think we start to bring some triggers for some storms. Tomorrow's look like then could border on being strong to perhaps severe," DeVore said, speaking live on WWJ on Tuesday.

DeVore said there could be a shower or thunderstorm around early Wednesday morning, and then another one in the afternoon.

"We gotta watch for some strong, gusty winds and maybe a downpour," said DeVore.

He warned that these winds could be damaging — as far as tree limbs and power lines — even as some metro Detroit residents have just recently had their power restored following the last round of stong storms.

Meanwhile, it's going to be blazing hot.

"Make sure the next couple of days you're finding ways to keep cool," DeVore said. "In the heat of the day, I think temperatures of 90, above 90, with real-feels in the upper 90s."

DeVore said it won't be quite as toasty on Thursday or Friday, but there's a good chance for another drenching shower or thunderstorm or two both of those days.

Looking ahead to the weekend, DeVore said there's a chance for yet more storms on a couple of occasions throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
