SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) – Police in Shelby Township are asking parents to be on alert after a case of stranger danger involving a 9-year-old girl on her bike Saturday afternoon.
Police officials tell WWJ they’re investigating a suspicious incident that happened in the area of Middlebury and Schoenherr around 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities say the girl was riding her bike in the area when she was approached by a Black male, approximately 35-50 years old. Authorities say he was in a vehicle, but there was no description of the car available.
The man tried to speak with the girl, but never got out of the vehicle.
Officials say the girl rode away without any issues, but police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Detective Treworgy at 586-731-2121, ext. 473.
