DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for a suspect who allegedly killed a man and assaulted a woman after they shoveled his snow and he gave them crack cocaine.

Detroit police are looking for Antoine Jamal Powers-McClain, who they say may have changed his appearance following the alleged murder on Super Bowl Sunday.

The crime happened in the 9100 block of Stout Street - near Evergreen and Joy Roads on the city’s west side – around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Powers-McClain had asked a woman and a man in his 50s to shovel his snow, police said. When they finished shoveling the snow, he allegedly gave the victims crack cocaine and asked both of them to go into his basement.

The woman told police officers Powers-McClain then threatened her and the man with a rifle. He allegedly hit the man in the head with the rifle, killing him, Detroit police said.

Powers-McClain allegedly put a chain around the man’s neck and chained him to a dog cage, before assaulting the woman with the rifle and threatening to kill her if she told anyone what happened.

The suspect then drove her to an apartment building in the area of 9600 Greenfield, and when the car came to a stop, she escaped and got help.

Police have not released the names of either victim.
