(WWJ) A 21-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges in a domestic violence assault, shooting and standoff with police in Taylor.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Monday announced the case against Avion Sanders of Taylor, following the frightening incident involving a baby last Wednesday.
According to authorities, just before 2 a.m. on Oct. 21, Taylor police officers responded to a call about shots fired at an apartment on Court Village Lane near Beech Daly and Eureka.
There it's alleged that Sanders got into an argument with his 21-year-old girlfriend -- with whom he has a 1-year-old daughter -- which turned physical.
While the two were fighting, police said, they tumbled down the stairs. Sanders then allegedly "pushed the victim hard toward the front door," she went out and began running down the street.
As the woman was running away, prosecutors Sanders allegedly pulled a gun and fired six to seven shots at her -- before barricading himself in the home with their infant daughter.
Police surrounded the place.
Eventually, after some negotiating, Sanders came out and was arrested without further incident.
The baby was unharmed.
Sanders was arraigned in 23rd District Court Friday on the following charges: Assault With Intent to Murder, Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Firearm, Felonious Assault, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, four counts of Felony Firearm, Child Abuse – Fourth Degree and Domestic Violence.
Bond was set at $200,000 cash, and Probable Cause Conference was scheduled for Nov. 2 before Judge Geno Salomone.
