15-year-old boy to face charges in attempted sexual assault at Plymouth Gathering Pavilion

(WWJ) A teenage boy is facing criminal charges after it's alleged that he attempted to sexual assault a woman in a public bathroom in downtown Plymouth.

Plymouth Police said the suspect — seen in surveillance photos released earlier this week — has been identified.

Police said the teen is not from Plymouth, but the did not say where he is from. Other details, including his name, will not be released as he is being charged as a juvenile.

According to investigators, the young suspect hid and waited in a stall in the women's restroom in the Comfort Station at The Gathering Pavilion on Penniman Ave., the evening of Saturday, Oct. 30.

The victim entered the bathroom around 20 minutes later, at around 7 p.m., and went into another stall. When she came out police said the suspect attacked.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker, and the suspect fled on foot.

Police said the woman was not physically injured.

In a statement, the police department thanked and public and the media for helping with this case.
