(WWJ) – Stargazers and space fans had a lot to get excited about in 2022. From two lunar eclipses to NASA’s historic launch of Artemis I and the growth of private sector space tourism, there were tons of attention-grabbing headlines over the last year.

As we flipped the calendar to 2023, WWJ’s Erin Vee took a look back at some of the biggest headlines with Mike Murray of the Delta College Planetarium in Bay City.

One of the most memorable moments of 2022 in space was undoubtedly the “Real Life Armageddon” situation when NASA slammed a spacecraft into an asteroid to see if we could alter its course in a planetary defense test.

“It was a spectacular demonstration mission,” Murray said.

While all these events were big stories in 2022, Murray says they also paved the way for more big developments to come in the future.
